A passion that grew beyond expectations
Lauretum originated from what began as an enthusiastic hobby. Many years ago, Laurica-plants founder André Devisch started collecting mature bay trees: specimens with a history, often sourced from other growers or locations where they had outgrown their surroundings. These trees were carefully repotted, pruned and nurtured further. What began as a personal collection gradually evolved into a unique gathering of valuable, mature bay trees.
Brother and sister
To overwinter the plants and present them to potential clients, a French-style orangery was built directly opposite the nursery. In winter, it offered protection; in summer, it became a green showroom and meeting place. Today, Lauretum is run by Elie’s sister Sybiel and her husband Tom. Lauretum specialises in the rental and sale of large bay trees and other evergreen plants.
Natural atmosphere
At Lauretum, a wide range of plants and trees can be hired for celebrations, receptions and events – ideal for those seeking a refined green setting and a natural atmosphere. For example, Lauretum’s bay trees adorned St Michael and St Gudula Cathedral in Brussels during royal weddings of the Belgian royal family. They also featured prominently in landscaped gardens created for the coronation of King Charles III and have shaped numerous high-profile national and international events. In addition to rental, Lauretum offers a broad selection of hardy specimen trees and multi-stemmed plants for sale, together with an extensive range of decorative pots and planters, available in both standard and bespoke designs.
Celebrating in style
Beyond rental and sales, Lauretum is also an exclusive event venue, set within the greenery of the nursery. The orangery and adjoining greenhouse together create an elegant, light-filled space where mature bay trees define the setting. Corporate events, weddings, photoshoots and exhibitions each take on a distinctive atmosphere, framed by established trees, filtered light and the subtle fragrance of greenery. The Lauretum Venue offers the perfect balance between natural splendour and refined elegance, making every celebration truly memorable.
